Thanks for reading Worldwork Journalism!
We are excited to announce our 3rd round of Worldwork Journalism - beginning May 18th. You can find more info and how to register below.
Birthed out of conversations about war and distress about the invasion of Ukraine, and a desire to 'do something', Penny Watson, who lives in Alice Springs/Australia, and myself here in Germany dreamed up Worldwork Journalism as a way for people from across the globe to come together and process the field, while also experimenting on making some of this deep transformational work visible. The purpose is to share deep democracy in action, that means the ability to hold and facilitate polarities and a broad diversity of perspectives, including unpopular or marginalized voices, so that transformative dialogue can happen.
3 months / 3 topics / 3 sessions
WorldWork Journalism. Intimate. Co-creative. Public. Deep Democracy in action.
We are more than grateful to the group of 30 pioneers who walked with us through the first two rounds of co-creating the first 7 articles! The next group is currently constellating. We are happy to have had participants geographically widely spread from Thailand, Kenya, India, Australia, Italy, Finland, Slovenia, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, and Germany, and look forward to having Lithuania and UK join us in the next round.
There are still seats left. Interested?
Join us in exploring and experimenting with a new form of co-creative/ interactive writing - we call Worldwork Journalism. It combines the immediacy of the worldwork group process (dialogue facilitation) with the reflective space of writing, followed by an invitation to a wider audience to join in, here on substack.
The starting point of this process is a virtual session of two hours with a globally spread group max of 15 people. We will open a facilitated space for sorting the topic, and a group process, which then flows into individual writing prompts. These prompts will open the next level of a broader dialogue. They will be posted online where our group can continue unfolding the process.
When
18th of May 9 am Berlin / 5 pm Sydney / 10 am Nairobi / 2 pm Bangkok
22nd of June 9 am Berlin / 5 pm Sydney / 10 am Nairobi / 2 pm Bangkok
20th of July 9 am Berlin / 5 pm Sydney / 10 am Nairobi / 2 pm Bangkok
Then we will invite others as readers and/or co-writers to add to the conversation. We will do this here on Substack, a ‘free-style journalist/everyday writers' platform. This online interactive space will be actively facilitated over 2 to 5 days.
What you need to bring:
interest in worldwork (the world’s burning issues)
a curious mind,
love for experimentation,
ideally to join all 3 sessions.
We cannot wait to step into this third worldwork endeavor, meeting people worldwide and co-creating dialogue inside out. You can participate in this group of Worldwork Journalists at no cost; sign up for free here.
Apart from co-creating in this worldwork journalist group, we invite you to read and join the conversation here on Substack. We are grateful for every contribution as it enriches our conversations and supports this tender plant to grow.
About 🌏 Worldwork
Worldwork is an application of Processwork also known as process-oriented psychology. As a psychological and conflict-resolution approach developed by Arnold Mindell in the 1970s, it's based on the principles of Jungian psychology, Taoism, and systems theory, and it is used in various settings, including therapy, organizational development, community building, and conflict resolution. At its core, Worldwork aims to explore and understand both individual and collective processes in order to address conflicts, promote personal growth, and create more harmonious relationships within groups and communities. It focuses on bringing awareness to marginalized or ignored perspectives, as well as the deeper layers of consciousness within individuals and groups.
The initiators of this space
Stephanie Bachmair (B.ONFIRE/DDI Alliance) is a communication passionate, facilitator, leadership coach, and process work diplomat. She supports individuals, teams, and organizations to explore and craft their stories, tell them with charisma, relate to their audience, and increase their transformative power through dialogue.
Penny Watson (MACF) works as a coach, group facilitator, and community development worker. She loves working with people in nature using process-orientated earth-based practices. She lives in Mparntwe, Alice Springs, and is deeply inspired by the people and lands of the Central Australian Desert.
